Camille Styles: Entertaining with Joey Wölffer

Life style blogger Camille Styles writes: “I can’t think of a more fitting subject to cap-off a sunshine and rosé-filled summer than the queen of pink wine herself, Joey Wolffer, who co-owns her family’s namesake vineyard and has helped turn it into the liquid accessory of the summer. Speaking of accessories, Joey also runs The Styleliner, a mobile fashion truck that features independent designers from around the world. The bohemian-inspired boutique on wheels has been such a hit that she recently opened a brick-and-mortar outpost in Sag Harbor that’s brimming with a finely curated mix of clothing, jewelry, and textiles. We got a peek inside the life of this Hamptons tastemaker to find out how she entertains — and channels the breeziness of summertime all year around.” Read the entire piece here!

Joey Wölffer Talks All Things Styleliner and Wölffer Wine on Garance Doré

Joey Wolffer grew up on the land that Wolffer Estate Vineyard now exists on. Only back then, the picturesque forest of vines were potato fields that her father Christian saw as an opportunity to make something big. If there is ever an example of risk taking paying off (albeit with a lot of hard work) Wolffer Vineyard is it. Since it was founded in 1988, the vineyard has only evolved – forged by passion, family dynamic, and really good rosé.

Garance Doré contributor, Natalie,  had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with Joey at the estate, touring the seller, talking business (she has 2), sipping delicious beverages, and petting a mini horse named dolly. Read the full article here!

Joey Wölffer Shares the Non-Scary Secret to Switching Careers on, June 2016

Do you ever wish your favorite clothing store could grow a set of wheels and come to you? Joey Wölffer has a hack for that. Six years ago, the designer ditched her high-power corporate job at The Jones Group (now dubbed Nine West Holdings) to follow two totally different career paths. At the same time.

Not only did Joey take the reigns as co-owner at her family's world-famous Wölffer Estate Vineyard (yep, that's why her name sounds so familiar), she launched The Styleliner—a mobile fashion truck that has the industry in a permanent state of <3.

But forging a new path (make that two new paths) isn't easy, and definitely isn't without challenges. With a brick-and-mortar store in Sag Harbor that opened last summer, a new outpost opening in Nantucket this year, and a booming family wine business, Joey is killing it, and we spoke to her about why taking that risk was 100 percent worth it. Spoiler alert: The best way to plan your future might just be not planning it at all.

Exposed Zippers' Q&A with Joey Wölffer, October 2015

For many New Yorkers, the name Wölffer conjures up thoughts of the gorgeous East End winery and refreshing summertime rosé. Aside from helping run the family winery, Joey Wölffer wanted a business of her own. Armed with her fashion experience, she launched The Styleliner in 2010. The concept, a mobile shopping truck stocked with the most fabulous vintage, is perfect for Wölffer, who at heart, is a true bohemian. She grew up in the Hamptons when it was just potato fields and artists and channeled this aesthetic into the shopping truck, and later into the stand-alone store in Sag Harbor and a handbag line. Wölffer travels regularly as a vintage buyer and can often be found driving The Styleiner around the country, which shoppers can track on Instagram. As the Hamptons vibe has evolved, one can still find a true bohemian spirit in Sag Harbor. Find the full interview here!

The Styleliner's Joey Wölffer has taken her fashion truck on wheels concept and parked permanently with her first Sag Harbor Boutique.

Joey Wölffer and The Styleliner in Crain's New York Business Magazine, March 2015

Joey Wolffer comes from a long line of tastemakers. Her maternal great-great-grandfather co-founded Britain's Marks & Spencer; her mother was a jewelry designer for Harry Winston; and her father opened Wölffer Estate Vineyard & Stables in the Hamptons in 1987. "They were fighters, believers and entrepreneurs," she said.

In June 2010, Ms. Wolffer followed in their footsteps by launching a fashion truck, the Styleliner, a boutique on wheels that she fills with her favorite designer and one-of-a-kind items.

Joey Wölffer and The Styleliner in the May 2015 issue of Elle Magazine

The Hamptons that Joey Wölffer, 33, knew growing up was far removed from the Bacchanalian carnival the area can be today. Wölffer spent her time show-jumping horses and exploring the bucolic 175 acres of her family's Wölffer Estate Vineyard and Stables, coming home to find guests like Bianca Jagger stopping by in riding clothes for lunch.

Currently a co-owner of the winery and equestrian center, Wölffer divides her time between Sag Harbor and Manhattan with her husband, Max Rohn, the winery's general manager. Her other projects include The Styleliner, a mobile boutique run out of a refurbished potato delivery truck (it's stationed at the winery for the summer); a line of handbags; and a baby— she's due in July. Calling from Paris, where she was stocking up on Styleliner goods, she shares a few of the local spots that retain the bohemian flavor she remembers from her youth.

the styleliner the road we travel

What They Say

Our motto is “The Road We Travel.” You’ve seen it inscribe on our bracelets, you’ve seen it through the hundreds of miles we’ve journeyed in our truck, and most importantly you see it in the beautiful things we curate from all over the world. Uncovering beauty and discovering artistry is our passion and we will go to great lengths to uncover it all.

Over the years, we’ve met many designers who we love – not just for their fantastic design and craftsmanship, but also for the friendships we’ve built with our global makers. We asked many of our designers and artists what “the road we travel” means to them. Here are their words:

It’s about embracing life's wonderful journey, with all it's ups and downs and keeping an open mind through faith, hope and love.

Euan McDonald, co-founder | Buba

The Styleliner's "The road we travel" reminds me of this beautiful truth: the journey counts just as much as the destination!

Julie Coste, founder | Treasures

The Styleliner motto means freedom and motion. When I think of travel, it does not necessarily mean moving through space and physically going from point A to point B. It can mean traveling in your mind, like daydreaming. Imagination often requires us to travel outside ourselves and into new places. It means being open to new people, new cultures and new ideas, and in the end Forest of Chintz draws inspiration from all of these things.

Sumangali Gada, designer | Forest of Chintz

To us, “the road we travel” is about exploring civilizations and where we came from. Sometimes, in order to make beautiful things, we have to return to certain values and discover our internal worlds.

Dimitriadis — who wrote this one Esme?

Every human being has its own unique path. Most humans are lost at many crossroads but once we are true to ourselves, our unique road is revealed. It takes courage, patience and self awareness to go down this unique road. Kavafis, a Greek poet, has written a beautiful poem tittled “Ithaca,” where he praises the journey one makes before reaching the final destination. We’re proud to be a part of the Styeliner that has so clearly defined their unique path!

The Styleliner in Ecuador

From jungle mysteries to breath taking Andean heights to vast Pacific grandeur, Ecuador is one of the most fascinating places on earth. Last Fall, Joey Wolffer, Styleliner founder and creator of her famously coveted cross-body bag took to discovering the beauty that Ecuador had to offer.

Here’s a list of her top 3 reasons why Ecuador should be next on your vacation hit list.

1. Otavalo Market. Set in a tiny town in the Otavalo Valley, it’s the holy grail of craft markets. Indigenous people from all the surrounding regions bring their crafts into this market every Saturday. They set up a visual feast of hand woven wall hangings, hand woven silk Ikats, alpaca ponchos and beautifully printed scarves, to name a few of the stunning items on display. One can easily get lost for hours lost in the beauty of the craftsmanship and the friendliness of the merchants. My favorite thing I bought was ____.

2. Outdoor activities. Most people think of only the Galapagos when they think of Ecuador. But that’s a mistake! While I was there, I went paragliding off a 12,000 ft. mountain, rode horses right after a massive thunderstorm and hiked amongst acres of tall grass, cows, pigs. It’s incredible varied terrain and amazing biodiversity can be experienced on and off the Galapgos.

3. The People. Ecuadoreans are some of the nicest and kindest people I’ve ever met. They are incredibly creative, work very hard, and always have a welcoming smile on their face. Whether it was explaining their mastery of weaving, or sharing a nice dish of chicken feet, I felt an immediate closeness and connection.
